Stage set for Arabian night
Where else would you find the front half of a pantomime camel rejoicing in the name of Elvis?
Yes, Loddon is claiming another first with its popular and usually outrageous seasonal show.
Young Elvis Smith and hind legs Paul Mower team up for a leading role in Ali Baba and the 10 ½ thieves – the latest offering to hit the stage at the head of the Chet.
A choice list of characters includes Salome – played by the versatile Maureen Larkin – Al Paca, the robber chief, Dame Delilah, Mustafa and Rum Baba.
The show starts in the George Lane Lecture Theatre tonight and there are further performances tomorrow afternoon and evening and next Thursday, Friday and Saturday.
